Charlotte enjoys playing and teaching a wide variety of music from the traditional classical repertoire
to contemporary, lighter jazz and blues styles.
Her primary goal is for students to enjoy learning music and she structures lessons to meet the goals
of the individual.
Lessons for adults last an hour and take place on Monday to Friday during the day or in the evening,
subject to timetable availability. Adults may have lessons on a weekly, fortnightly or ad-hoc basis.
Lessons for children last for 30 or 60 minutes, depending on the age and skill level of the student,
and take place on a Monday to Friday from 4.00 – 5.30pm. Childrens’ lesson are at a set day and time
each week during the school term, and continue as needed during school holidays, although on a
more flexible basis.
In addition to lessons, for those who are interested, Charlotte organises masterclasses
for her students with local professional pianists several times a year, holds small informal concerts
in her own studio, and also prepares students for participation at Woodley Festival which takes place
every March.
Her teaching fee is based on market rates in Reading of a teacher of her skills, qualification and
experience level. For 2008-9 it is set at £28 per hour pro rata, and is subject to review bi-annually.
Lessons are paid for in advance in blocks of 5 hourly lessons or 10 half-hourly lessons, although
adult students also have the option of paying for lessons individually.
Expenses such as exam, masterclass and festival entry fees may also need to be paid, and students
will need to buy their own music books.
